EXTRACTION OPTIONS

Types of extractions

SIMPLE EXTRACTION

In cases where no incision or sectioning of the tooth is required, the simple extraction procedure is quick and without complications. Anesthesia is used during this process, the tooth is removed from the socket, and antiseptic treatment is performed. Usually, no sutures are needed.

This method minimizes the risk of complications, and the recovery process is efficient. Any possible pain is typically felt only for the first 2-4 days and gradually subsides.

COMPLEX EXTRACTION

A complex extraction is necessary in cases where the tooth has widely divergent roots, is severely angled towards other teeth, or its crown part is extensively damaged.

In these cases, techniques such as gum incision, sectioning the tooth for removal, and bone drilling are used. This type of procedure can take from 30 minutes to 2 hours. Often, suturing the gums is required after the procedure, so the rehabilitation period increases to 10-14 days.

DOCTOR'S RECOMMENDATIONS AFTER EXTRACTION:
  • Refrain from eating for at least 3-4 hours after the procedure to avoid gum damage and prevent infection.
  • During the healing period, avoid hot food and drinks, alcohol, and smoking.
  • Rinse your mouth with a solution recommended by your dentist.
  • In case of discomfort, take a pain reliever.
  • Replace a hard-bristled toothbrush with a soft-bristled model.
  • Follow the doctor's recommendations.
  • If there is pain, use a pain reliever.

TOOTH EXTRACTION

EXTRACTION OF A MOLAR TOOTH

Extraction of a molar tooth is usually performed in cases of a serious risk of spreading infection or when the tooth's condition is so critical that restoration is impossible.

The need for molar extraction can arise from the development of caries, pulpitis, periodontitis, or jaw and facial trauma.

The doctor assesses the situation, performs an analysis, and determines the treatment plan after a detailed examination and analysis of diagnostic data.

"WISDOM TEETH": TO REMOVE OR TO KEEP?

Surgical dentistry in Lviv at the Symmetrica Center covers a range of procedures aimed at supporting and restoring teeth. Due to their structural peculiarity, "wisdom teeth" are practically untreatable. The late eruption of third molars in adulthood creates painful discomfort and can contribute to bite changes even after teeth straightening. Specialists in surgical dentistry recommend removing wisdom teeth as early as possible – before the full formation of the root, gum irritation, and contact with adjacent teeth.

Specialists at the Symmetrica Center practice single-stage removal of all "wisdom teeth" using the Piezotome ultrasonic device, which:

  • does not damage soft tissues;
  • makes the procedure as painless and short as possible;
  • minimizes postoperative swelling.

The surgical intervention is performed under local anesthesia or sedation (treatment while asleep) and, depending on the complexity of the case, can last from 30 minutes to 2 hours.

Why is it necessary to treat teeth at the Symmetrica Dental Rehabilitation Center?

REGENERATION OF DAMAGED TISSUES

After complex surgical interventions in the bone tissue of the oral cavity, there is often a need to restore the gum structure by filling the space created by the operation with biological material.

For rapid regeneration of hard and soft tissues, the plasmofilling (PRF) procedure is used, which allows for the use of the patient's own concentrated, platelet-rich blood plasma in the problem area.
